Carmen C.

Owner/Director

Meet Carmen, Founder and Director of Wilson Avenue Day Care Center. Since opening the school in 2012, Carmen has been dedicated to creating a safe, nurturing, and high quality learning environment for children and families in the community. In 2018, the program was selected by the New York City Department of Education to participate in the city’s Pre K for All initiative. Under her leadership, the school has consistently received excellent annual evaluations from the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, reflecting her commitment to educational excellence and child development.

Kathy A. Lopez

Pre-K Teacher

Meet Kathy, our Educational Director and Pre K Lead Teacher since September 2024. Kathy earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood and Childhood Education with a concentration in Spanish from SUNY New Paltz and later completed her Master’s Degree in Bilingual Education at Hunter College. Certified in Early Childhood Education since 2022, Kathy is passionate about creating engaging, inclusive, and supportive learning experiences that help every child grow with confidence.

Maria Sanchez

3-K  Teacher

Meet Maria Sanchez, our 3K Lead Teacher since September 2025. Maria has been teaching since 2022 and holds an Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education. She is currently completing her Bachelor’s Degree in Childhood Education at City College of New York. Maria is a student centered educator who values inclusion, creativity, and equitable learning for every child. Through a family oriented approach, she creates a safe and welcoming classroom where children feel supported, confident, and encouraged to express themselves freely.

Julissa Class

3-K Group Teacher

Meet Julissa, our Certified Teacher Assistant with over 10 years of experience supporting students in diverse classroom settings. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree from John Jay College of Criminal Justice and is currently pursuing her Master’s Degree and certification in Childhood and Special Education at University of Mount Saint Vincent. Julissa is passionate about helping children feel supported, confident, and empowered to succeed both inside and outside the classroom.
